Mr. Borland’s Intro to Agriculture class wrapped up their Soil unit by making Edible Soil Profiles
Wilderness Warriors have been hard at work! Here are some student highlights!
Debbie McNutt, one of the Wilderness Warriors, has decided to document the different types of wildlife that live around our school's campus for her "Take-Action Project." Therefore, she has strategically placed a trail camera in the woods behind the school and plans to keep records of all the wildlife images her camera captures throughout the rest of the semester. Great job, Debbie! We look forward to seeing the results of your findings!
For her "Take-Action Project," Charlee Omaits has decided to raise a batch of meat chickens in the Power Training Center. Once they get a little more mature, she plans to move them into the garden center and finish raising them in the empty flower beds where the chickens can scratch up the weeds and add nutrients to the soil for next year's plantings. Great job, Charlee! The other Wilderness Warriors are looking forward to a farm fresh chicken barbeque, or perhaps some farm-raised chicken buffalo dip!
Wilderness Warrior, Rowen Hartong, decided to construct his own 'open-faced birdhouse' for his "Take-Action Project." He plans to strategically mount the birdhouse somewhere around the school's campus in hopes that during the next nesting season, it will be taken up by a bird family looking for a nice place to lay eggs and raise their young. Great job, Rowen! We look forward to seeing what species of bird decides to use your very well-constructed nesting box next spring.

The Wilderness Warriors students are spending the week learning how to assess the overall health of our ponds by measuring specific indexes such as pH, water temperature, dissolved oxygen levels, salinity, and turbidity. They're also getting to experience wading into the actual water with chest waders and using scraping nets to analyze the living organisms living within each of our ponds. It's been fun so far!

Mrs. Pridemore and Mr. Stoffer gave students an incredible hands-on science experience by gathering caterpillars from milkweed plants and watching their amazing transformation!
Students were able to observe the monarch butterfly life cycle up close—from tiny caterpillar 🐛 to chrysalis and finally to a beautiful monarch butterfly 🦋—before releasing it back into the wild!
What an incredible way to bring science to life! 🌎🔬
